John 6:44 – Arminian Claim and My Refutation
From Arminian Page ….
If they (Jews addressed inJohn 6:44) were of the
Father’s sheep, then the Father would have gladly given (John
6:37) and drawn them to His Son. (John 6:44) This passage has nothing
to do with Calvinism…..
My Response:
Sir,
I am lost, you just confirmed “Calvinism” or whatever you call it; it is just what
the Bible says to me, as I am not well versed in Calvin. The verse, John 6:44,
confirms what Jesus has stated prior. He is the One and Only Savior given to
ALL mankind, as promised in the Law and the Prophets, for the salvation of
those God Elected before time began of His Perfect Will (*especially of those
who believe) —1 Timothy 4:10 (ESV) 10 For to this end we toil and strive,
because we have our hope set on the living God, who is the Savior of all
people, *especially of those who believe.
John
15:16 (ESV) Jesus said—
16 You did not choose
me, but I chose you and appointed you that you should go and bear fruit and
that your fruit should abide, so that whatever you ask the Father in my name,
he may give it to you.
The process is outside of man’s hands except as he is brought to Spiritual Life
from Spiritual Death (separation from relationship with God/Life) through
exercise of God’s Grace (clearly stated in your verse John 6:44) delineated in
process by Paul, after an excellent treatise on God’s Sovereign Election and
Predestination in:
— Ephesians 2:8-10 (ESV) 8 For by grace…
(Holy Spirit Proceeds from the Father by GRACE to imbue FAITH)
— you have been saved through faith …
(FAITH is a “capacity” to see in Righteousness (sedek-Hebrew) the Truth of the Gospel in the first step on the
“ladder” of Salvation and Sanctification termed as “Poverty of Spirit” in the
Beatitudes which reveals our absolute hopelessness in death as we are… and the
ineffable Grace and Mercy imparted with Christ’s now clear command to Obedience
and Love to Him as Our Lord and Savior)).
— and this is not your own doing
(We are DEAD [Unrighteousness] to the Spirit and God IS SPIRIT –Righteousness- [John 4:24 (ESV) 24 God is spirit, and those who worship him must worship in spirit and truth.” So we have absolutely NO capacity to claim ANYTHING from the Righteous One or to communicate by our volitional entry to His presence at all)
—; it is the gift of God, 9 not a result of works, so that no one may boast.
(clarification of our complete sinfulness in spiritual death and inability to approach God until His grant of capacity in Election)
— 10 For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk
in them.
(This clarifies that all the works of man are predestined either by God’s permissive or decreed will obviously-sorry to restate the obvious)
So, ALL people are drawn to Him for one of two reasons…..
Matthew 25:32-33 (ESV) 32 Before him will be gathered all the nations, and he will separate people one from another as a shepherd separates the sheep from the goats. 33 And he will place the sheep on his right, but the goats on
the left.
….as He is the One given hegemony over Creation
—Colossians 1:15-18 (ESV) 15 He is the image
of the invisible God, the firstborn of all creation. 16 For by him all
things were created, in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether
thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities—all things were created through
him and for him. 17 And he is before all things, and in him all things hold
together. 18 And he is the head of the body, the church. He is the
beginning, the firstborn from the dead, that in everything he might be
preeminent.
Maybe I was reading you wrong and I am sorry if I was, but from what you said, it almost sounds like you are
saying that man, APART from God’s predestination, could autonymously make a decision for Christ from a neutral stand of
will, without the underlying influence of the nature (dead spiritually and a
slave to the impetus of the flesh) God gave us in judgment for Original Sin,
from the fall of our first federal head, Adam. If this is what you are
saying, please be very careful. You are not instituting in man with this
presupposition, a free will, free to act according to the nature God gave in
predestination to man; giving him freedom to act according to that nature God
gave him unto the predestined path God graciously allowed and decreed for that
man’s lifetime. The will you speak of, if you presume man to make
decisions sans God, is what is called a sovereign will. This imputes man
with God’s ability to create something from nothing, for if a man makes a
decision sans God, he must facilitate reality’s disengagement from God’s
predestined and established reality and, from nothing, create a new path of
physical and metaphysical reality through which to pass and which must uphold
and maintain the same order, universals, uniformity and absolutes which God has
established in his predestined reality, described unequivocally in Scripture.
Just thought you might want to know. God Bless You. I came from the place where America has
been taken in these days of great evil as well…I pray you read about the Synod
of Dort in 1619 and find the heart of the Reformation beating strong for Truth
against Heresy.
